The only other solution I can think of is, if the whole document is
selected, do not allow the user to enter text. All other shortcuts like
cut, copy, paste, delete, etc. will work, but typing text (which would
replace the whole document) just causes the bell to ring. This wouldn't
be hard to implement, because all the program has to do it disallow text
entry if every entry in the document is selected.
